As Everdome continues to add rich detail to our metaverse experience ahead of our upcoming Mars landing event, we are delighted to lift the veil on our design and worldbuilding process with a deep dive on our Mars Magnetic Rail transit system.
Evernauts will be taking the Mars Magnetic Rail from Jezero Spaceport to arrive at Everdome City. This system includes a suspended train vehicle operating on a magnetic rail.
The train's exterior is designed to withstand the harsh Martian environment, with a main hull of nickel-based superalloy tested to withstand extreme temperatures, pressure and vibrations, as well as panoramic windows constructed from an erosion, abrasion, and break-resistant local pyroxene perfectly suited for high-speed rail on Mars.
Created in collaboration between the Everdome development team as well as concept artists Lino Thomas, Marcin Panasiuk and Wojtek Fikus, as well as our space scientist advisor - Leszek Orzechowski, we worked to transform this viable science concept into an entertaining and experienceable part of our metaverse adventure.
The Mars Magnetic Rail can travel at speeds of up to 300 km/h, making it a fast and efficient mode of transportation. The train is powered by a combination of nuclear fission, solar and battery power, while its magnetic suspension system minimizes friction, ensuring maximum efficiency from this reliable and sustainable energy source.
To counter the frequent and serious dust storms experienced on the Martian surface, the train is also equipped with durable, lightweight nickel-based alloy window shutters doubling as radiation shielding and fail safes for cases of rapid depressurization.
Passengers enter the train compartments via single airlocks designed to accommodate explorers in pressure suits as well as those in regular clothing.
The interior is divided into two distinct compartments. The first compartment is designed for passengers without pressure suits and features a comfortable seating section offering stunning views of the passing Martian landscape thanks to the front panoramic window.
This seating area is equipped with ergonomic seats created to provide maximum comfort during the journey. The compartment is also equipped with additional doors sealing it from the rest of the train, ensuring passenger safety.
The second compartment is located on the opposite side of the airlock, designed for passengers in pressure suits. This compartment features suspension rigs which support pressure suits during the journey, used also to charge pressure suit batteries as well as replenishing air tanks and coolant.
Advanced life support systems provide passengers with a breathable atmosphere even in the unlucky event of a safety lockdown. A safety lockdown transforms the train compartments into lifeboats to sustain passengers for a prolonged period of time until emergency response arrives at the scene.
The Mars Magnetic Rail is a high-tech vehicle designed to provide safe, comfortable and efficient transportation for passengers as well as goods in the unique Martian environment.
