Everdome Presents - Jezero Lavatube Canyon - A New In-World Location

We are delighted to present a brand new in-world location as work continues on breathing life into the Martian chapter of our hyper-realistic metaverse experience. Ahead of our upcoming Mars landing event, the Everdome team has been working hard on building out the detail of the Martian landscape in and around Everdome City. Part of this work can be seen now with our Jezero Lavatube Canyon environment.

Woven into the storytelling element of Everdome’s interplanetary exploration adventure, the Jezero Lavatube Canyon is an epic place with a mysterious historical backstory.

In the early days of Everdome’s pioneering Mars settlement efforts, to meet ambitious growth plans for Everdome City, a road and transportation system was planned through a long flat stretch crater in a straight line to the Jezero Spaceport.

During their planning, surveyors encountered a massive lava tube, formed by flowing lava from an ancient volcanic vent, beneath the rocky surface. The surveyors were aware of potential risks of the lava tube collapsing, but concluded they were operating within optimal safety margins. Those estimates were wrong. One day, as the heavy machinery was working above, the ground shook violently, and a loud rumble echoed across the plain. The lava tube had collapsed and the aftermath was cataclysmic.

The collapsing lava tube created a massive sinkhole, swallowing everything in its path. The loss of equipment and progress was a major setback for Everdome pioneers, yet over time, the Jezero Lavatube Canyon became a unique and stunning wonder - a site of the first, though accidental, terraforming on the face of the Red Planet.

After detailed research and planning, Everdome engineers built a new road and monorail system above the collapsed segment of the lava tube. This bridge spans the entire canyon, connecting the core settlement and spaceport on both sides.

With adventures ranging from rare-mineral mining and resource collection, to recreational usage for exploration or gaming experiences within the canyon and its multiple mining pits, the Jezero Lavatube Canyon is one of many Martian in-world destinations currently being developed by Everdome.

Jezero Lavatube Canyon was created by the award winning concept artist, Igor Knezevic, known for his earlier work on Star Trek: Picard, Passengers and Jupiter Ascending, under supervision of Everdome’s Head of Science - Leszek Orzechowski and our Art Director - Wojciech Fikus.

Everdome’s goal is to build the fabric of a hyper-realistic environment to spark the imaginations of our community, creators and landholders. The Jezero Lavatube Canyon is part of this environment, being created as a site for multiple in-world experiences as we build upon our first Moon Skimmer test case.

It represents just one of many various in-world locations and settings being conceptualized, built and integrated into our metaverse destination as our hyper-realistic Martian environment takes on greater depth and complexity.
